So much down one gameplay in MK1 it's worse than MK11. Down 1 is the meta in MK1 and that's just unreal for a modern fighting game to be reduced to that . Clearly NRS has lost there ability to make a great game.

im sure the balance is an NRS problem but im equally sure that the predatory monetization is a WB problem

This vid just got recommended to me, I’m pre casual in other fgs but haven’t touched a mk before. This pains me to see man. If what you’re saying is true about content creators being in touch w NRS is true then goodness gracious. I really hope they get their heads outta the sand for you and other players like you. Worst part is I remember me and a buddy watching the beta and thought it looked pretty cool. To see it turn out like this is rough.

Thanks for always keeping it real, bro. For a while I thought I was just getting older & running out of time for games, but mk1 is DEVASTATING. Went back to sf6 and had nothing but a smile on my face. Hype is still there…MK1 is a slow burn that’s already melted the candle

I feel that MK1 and MK11 are both similar but with cameos which is one reason why I never liked MK1 when I played it at a friends house. There was one issue I had with MK1 which carried over from MK11 is that the characters are nowhere near as good except the only way u can get good at it is to play whatever the meta is shifted which i strongly disliked MK11 but the fact it carried over to MK1 I never wanted to pick it up at all. Given experience from playing Mk1 at a friends house I didn’t even touch it for 15 minutes Maybe that’s just me getting old but Mortal kombat games in this era is very stale and dissapointing. So when Tekken 8 came out and I was new to the series, I fell in love with it and invest couple hours to get decent at it. With so many option of characters u can play in Tekken 8 that wasn’t meta forced UNLIKE MK1. Something that Ed Boon should’ve taken consideration as it’s not fair to be meta forced by 1 character just cuz that’s how u only can get good at only.

The cameo system was the worst idea ever. It ruined the game from the start but ok, maybe it could work.... then they monetize the game in a scummy way. Ok but maybe its balanced? Nope. This killed the game so early

I havent played mortal kombat in so long. I think the last mortal kombat i played was mkx. The games fight Choreograph animations just seem to get stiffer and less snappier each new mortal kombat. Characters are constantly being redesigned, reimagined, fighting stances changed, ect. There is no consistency in their designs over generations. Like why is every character 6'2 in these games? There are so many design choices that are so questionable both mechanically and character wise. Mk9 will forever be the best mk imo.

Can we go back to mkx. Despite the balance, that game was fun and everyone was playable and THE BEST guest roster

Also the animations are so bad watching becomes a further chore

I’m a huge MK fan haven’t played in months 🤦🏿‍♂️.

NRS lost the plot and forgot how to make a fighting game years ago. It feels like there is nobody steering the ship and a different person made every character. It's always been an unbalanced nightmare since release.

Nerfing these characters isn't bad, mk11 neutral game wasn't that bad and I don't think it was the main issue of the game.

As someone who remembers very vividly the street fighter 5 release debacle, i know for sure capcom has to be paying some of these people or threatening blacklist, like Maximilian would talk about how great the game was but would never play it at all but would still tell people it is worth playing

Why doesn't everyone have the exact same amt. of damage and speed for moves etc.? That way, it comes down to a player making good choices or bad choices. Not a big fan of Kameos myself or of fatal blows either. A couple of them are coming damn close to doing freakin' half a persons life bar for hitting 2 buttons. I remember a guy I met told me he couldn't get into MK years ago because you make 1 mistake then the person juggles you until you're dead. I'm sure he was exaggerating a bit but he wasn't that far from the truth. MK 10 I believe it was. I loved how fast it seemed but damn, just look at Sonic vs. PL. Tom was there iirc. 🤣

Like I said on your previous video they are taking notes from Ubisofts rainbow 6 team and instead of buffing characters that NEED HELP TO COMPETE with others they just continue to nerf the top tiers and indirectly nerfing other characters in the process. It’s sad man it’s so sad

They’re really handling this game like Ubisoft. Aka why buff bad characters when you can keep nerfing good characters.

At this point, what is even keeping yall around? Not that you are wrong, in fact your complaints have been valid for years but what do you even gain from sticking around with a series that shows so little improvement?

i don’t even feel that the issue is that the top characters are broken, it’s the opposite, everyone else is weak, assist-based fighters need to rely on full characters who are supplemented by their assist, in MK1, there’s no assist good enough to supplement anyone except Khameleon and only johnny and peacemaker are complete characters. This is all a side effect of the awful nerfs they made to things that didn’t deserve nerfs, look at other games like guilty gear, every character in that game looks broken when they get going, in MK, nothing looks broken, it’s a real shame

I really agree with almost every point you made but I'm wondering if you even like the game besides the onesided meta or do you think it's trash all along? I'm reading a lot of "this game is trash fuck it" - type of comments here and i don't get it. Do you guys actually want to see the game do better or is this just an opportunity to rage...

I know we all love and grew up with MK, but lets be real. NRS games are such cash grab. These games sell so well because they're easy (outside a tournament setting) The fatalities are cool, and the guest characters are fun. This game is FUN, not competitive. Never has been. Its a mess, I love MK, but I never ever thought that it was a game I needed to be good at because, even growing up, wed all play the new MK, then like a week later we'd be back on Marvel or Tekken.

I'm not going to say you're wrong, but if you're convinced enough in your opinion to say everyone is lying for their own personal gain then why not have the stones to say who 'everyone' is?

Can't wait for Hektor the cyborg with a sombrero from the Lin Kuei to drop.

As a casual player who is trash online so only fights the bots, I already knew this game was a let down when I saw they were rewriting the entire universe only to just make the story play out exactly the same and was just a lazy reboot excuse.

I wish MK1 had been a Mortal Kombat game.

I love watching specifically Rips Arena for this game. I don't play it anymore. But when they have unique players come through like Roethor who mains rain, Quan, and Homelander. It kinda hypes me up. Screw all the Sindel/Lao, Johnny/Khameleon, Peacemaker/Kano. I wanna watch interesting combos. Interesting sets. It's great. And their commentators are fantastic. The long and short, if you hate watching MK jus watch Rips. Find the interesting sets and just enjoy

Idk why but mk always felt rough for me (having played mk armagedon, mk9, mk11) and being my first experience in a fighting game made think that all the games were the same so i just didnt try any other fighting game
